David and Michel talk about a finale that may have broken New Who for years to come, the show’s current accessibility, and like, I don’t even know what to tell you, something weird happened to the audio towards the end but it seems to be OK now? I don’t know.
It’s the year of the jock as Kenny and Ben tackle multiple films that could be considered as sports movies, led of course by Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby and one of the better comedy kisses to date. But The Holiday, Stomp the Yard, and Invincible have also come to play and the competition is fierce. Plus Little Man is also there unfortunately. As Kenny and Ben try to determine the winner, they also discuss Pat Benitar, if Jack Black has ever done a subdued dramatic role, their confusion at how stomp dancing works, Ben’s football expertise, the awfulness of Little Man and more! So get ready because we’ll all be winners after we listen to this episode.

This week we are joined by first time guest/X Files watcher Abby to discuss an all time favorite and one of Darin Morgan’s best scripts, S03E04 “Clyde Bruckman’s Final Repose”. We talk about the Emmy winning performance by Peter Boyle as the depressed lonely old man who happens to be psychic and this episode as a sendup of The X Files as a show. Most importantly, Scully gets a dog!
Tune in next time as we return to the mytharc and watch S03E09 and 10 “Nisei” and “731”, and follow us on Twitter @condensedtruth!
We’re going back to the classics this week as Ethan is discussing a hilarious episode of Scooby-Doo Where Are You with Heavy Meddle’s biggest fan: his dad! Listen as they discuss whether or not this episode has a clever title, why did they decide to have inexplicable impressions of Peter Lorre and Sydney Greenstreet, and how to make a snow ghost fly.
David and Michel talk about one of the most critically-frowned-upon episodes of the show’s entire 57-and-a-bit long history – where one of them reveals they actually really like this one. The #FearHerReAppreciation starts HERE.
Kenny and Ben tackle another iconic 00s movie kiss this week with Brokeback Mountain but how does it hold up in one of the best kissing years they’ve ever covered? Yes, with one very guessable exception, the kisses in Hustle & Flow, Just Friends, Mr. & Mrs. Smith and Sin City are also strong this week. As Kenny and Ben sort this all out they also talk about which bit part actor in Brokeback Mountain they hung out with at a party, that great chemistry between Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson, toxic masculinity and why the “friend zone” is a bad concept, the simple appeal of Mr. & Mrs. Smith, male power fantasies and more. It’s quite the episode so buckle up!
y-Doo! Adventures: The Mystery Map was a one-time television special that told a very groovy mystery about the kids’ search for the treasure of Gnarlybeard The Pirate. What makes it unique? For the first and only time, the gang was entirely played by puppets. Puppetry expert and host of the Ain’t Dey Beauts podcast Jack Read joins Ethan for what is almost certainly the most in-depth discussion of this scooby-doo puppet show that has ever been had by two adults. Plus, they share their pitches for a new scooby-doo show, rate the various velmas over the years, and Ethan vastly underestimates Jack’s knowledge of Fraggle Rock! You don’t want to miss this episode!
Peter (@PJQ97) returns to talk about one of the most controversial (well, really, to be honest, is it that controversial anymore?) episodes of the show, as well the TRUE winner of the Design a Monster contest Sad Tony, other iconic Blue Peter competitions and the merits of ignoring fan reaction.
